Life Style Retailing grows by 43 % YoY growth with sales of Rs.64.55 crores for the month of July 2006 Mumbai, August 08, 2006: Pantaloon Retail (India) Limited, retail sales for the month of July 2006 stood at Rs. 205.17 crores as against Rs.130 crores during the same period last year, recording a YoY growth of 57.80%. For Value Retailing, sales were at Rs. 140.62 crores as against Rs.84.92 crores during the same period last year, recording a YoY growth of 65.58%. For Lifestyle Retailing, the company recorded sales of Rs.64.55crores as against Rs.45.10 crores during the same period last year, recording a YoY growth of 43.11%.

POPSSurge for the Dollar Despite Global Fears The dollar surged to a two-year high against the pound and a six-month peak against the euro on Friday, as fears about spreading economic gloom triggered a sell-off in commodities. Against sterling, the US currency notched up its 11th consecutive day of gains – its longest uninterrupted rise in more than 35 years – as markets became increasingly convinced that the US was best-placed to weather the global downturn. The Reuters-Jefferies CRB index, a benchmark for commodities, fell more than 2.5 per cent to its lowest level since late March. The index has fallen almost 20 per cent since an all-time high in July, but is still 22 per cent higher than a year ago.

Patrick acknowledges willpower is not his forte. To the chagrin of Edie and Harris, Patrick still smokes a pack and a half of cigarettes a day. He also has a weakness for chips and salsa. “I notice that stress eating is something I do well,” Patrick said. The Deuels moved to an apartment in Alliance a little more than a year ago so Edie could take a job as a school counselor. Her contract wasn’t renewed at the end of the school year, and she remains out of work. Patrick also is unemployed. He said he’s been going through vocational rehabilitation to determine the type of work that would best suit him. The former restaurant manager said he definitely won’t work in food service again. There’s too much temptation, he said. The couple’s only income is Patrick’s monthly Social Security check of less than $600.
